EMPRESS ARLANNA
“Empress Arlanna” (Mrs. Arlanna Alie), is a teacher, musician, journalist and radio show host. She is recognized as one of North America’s leading female percussionists, having founded www.ARLANNA.com, DrumTimeMiami.com, DrumTimeCanada.com, SteelPanCanada.com and DanceTimeCanada.com Workshop Services. She plans to establish an International Drumming School based in her homeland of Trinidad and Tobago. Empress Arlanna is a former Queen of the Bands in the annual Toronto Caribana Festival.
Using her extensive experience as a veteran dancer with African-Caribbean groups “Empress” enjoys teaching adults and children the performing arts. She has performed as a member of Canada’s La Rhythms Iron Acoustic Band, Farmer’s Rhythm Section, Toronto Limers, Caribbean Drum Squad, Samba Sensations, S.C.Y.D.E., Hummingbirds, Toronto Caribbean Drummers and Afropan Steel Band.
